The Local Plan “Issues and Options” report published by Guildford Borough Council is based on “flawed” evidence and a narrow and out-of-date definition of sustainability, according to CPRE Surrey. The plan over-emphasizes housing above other community priorities such as infrastructure needs, and its proposals are in direct conflict with national and local policy on protection of the Green Belt. “If GBC wants to promote sustainability then it must develop a wider vision of how we develop without comprising Guildford for future generations”, writes CPRE Guildford Chairman Tim Harrold.
