As you can see from our website, CPRE's workload is increasing dramatically as Surrey comes under ever more intense pressure from developers. More volunteers and local organisers are needed in all our districts. We are always delighted to welcome new members – and new activists…

If you are reading this site and you are not already a member of CPRE, why not join our ranks and show your support for our campaign for the countryside?

 

In addition, members' subscriptions help us to fund the fight against the damaging proposals that threaten us, whether from the Government and its agencies, from commercial developers or occasionally misguided local authorities. These funds also allow us to continue our day-to-day work of monitoring planning applications and development plans as and when they arise.

 

CPRE Surrey is the only group working across the county to keep a sensible balance between economic and environmental priorities, and to ensure that any new development is of the right kind, in the right place and at the right time. CPRE has built up an excellent reputation, through decades of work, for its expertise, passion and thoroughness. We can be a valuable ally to community groups and individual in local planning.

 

We work closely with other CPRE branches throughout England to defend our countryside, villages and tranquil areas, and our officers liaise regularly with the branches in neighbouring counties. We also work at regional level through the CPRE South East network, to keep an eye on Government bodies such as SEEDA (the South East England Development Agency).
