Application threatens Mickleham's historic character

CPRE Surrey has objected strongly to an application on Mickleham Downs where a unique grouping of estate buildings could be demolished and redeveloped as courtyard housing.

The existing complex, which was built about 100 years ago, has remained largely unchanged and we have suggested to Mole Valley Council that it should be

either added to the Mickleham Conservation Area or listed as being of architectural or historic interest. In addition, it is in a remote location, largely surrounded by woodland, with very poor access, so intensification of the residential use is hardly a sustainable proposition.
